This how all docs offices should be! Not over crowded staff case load appears reasonable. No rush and very effective overall experince. The doc himself does not push over treating, is very bright and clearly an astute diagnostician! Thanks for years of the best health care! This is the kind of doc everyone would want. The negative reviews are complaints about insurance billing mostly. Some say he does not seem like he cares. Just my take, he is not overly reactive and will not always send you home with a script if it's not need. I think she folks may be upset when they are very upset and he responds calmly. Hes not being overly reactive is a plus iny book. Infact, I think it helps him provide better medical treatment then just reacting or prescribing just because itay make a patient more happy. His work, is not to give patients what they want for medical treatment. It is for him to assess and respond most appropriately based on the patients conditions or symptoms. All patients are informed, in new patient paperwork, which is standard practice and all medical offices, if the procedure being completed is not covered by the insurance patients will be responsible for the cost of the procedure. What's the problem here are people expecting providers to work for free? Or are patients expecting the doctors know ahead of time how insurance is going to process a particular claim for a particular policy? Both of these would be unreasonable expectations to place on a healthcare provider and would be more appropriately addressed with insurance carriers directly. Doctor's offices also attempt to estimate co-payments. These do not always work out as planned sometimes you will owe more or have a credit. I suggest this is not a fault of the doctors but a byproduct of our health insurance system. My sister and I were looking for a sole practitioner office where we would not get lost in the system..or have to wait a couple of months for an appointment.(something we have often experienced in Sarasota. )I’ve only met him a couple of times and .I had no idea how important he would be, I had an emergency surgery in SMH this week and he “heard me” And got me the care I was asking for ..while the “specialist “ did not. Additionally, he made the rounds every day including weekends. I was very impressed.He’s polite, respectful, punctual, and I also had nice contacts with his staff, Susan and Cookie.

I have been a patient of Dr Hohnwald for about 4 years now. Dr Hohnwald is great. He is the only doctor and has one nurse and one office manager. I feel at home and well taken care of. The great thing about it being a small practice is they really get to know you health wise as time goes by.

For years my husband had complained about cold extremities, but no doctor could help him. He saw Dr. Hohnwald and the doctor knew what the problem was. It was confirmed by a blood test. He is thorough and makes sure that his patients get the best care. Dr. Hohnwald has a combination of empathy and instinct that is too rare nowadays. He is really a great doctor!

The Doctor and his staff are very responsible and have taken care of me for years, my health condition was affected from one day to the next and he took quick action and even on weekends he continued to take care of me and visit me early in the morning after sending me to the ER and he kept in touch with the nurses 24/7 and even the ER nurses spoke very well of the Doctor and his care of me.

I just saw had my first appointment with Dr. Hohnwald and I’m very pleased. Cookie, Cathy and Dr. Hohnwald were very nice and attentive. The office is small, clean and laid back. Dr. Hohnwald is the only doctor in the practice, so it was great to know that I wouldn’t have to shuffle between colleagues. He listened to my symptoms, gave me a stern, yet caring talking to about some bad habits and scheduled me for further testing to try and uncover what the root cause of my ailment is. For the first time, I felt like I found a doctor who really listened and who cares enough to work with me to find a diagnoses and proper treatment.

My husband and I moved from Los Angeles to Sarasota and were lucky enough to find Dr. Kevin Hohwald. My husband had a health problem that could have been serious. Dr. Hohnwald is the most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever had. His knowledge and expertise makes my trust in him absolute. His office staff is very friendly and accommodating. If you want a doctor who will get to the root of your issue, Dr. Hohnwald is for you.
